I might just have two new favorite D.C. wedding venues after Amanda and Robert’s wedding. Everything about their day was absolutely perfect from start to finish. From the gorgeous weather to the stunning D.C. cathedral (complete with Gospel choir!) and a wedding reception with the best views in the whole city.
To top it all off Robert and Amanda have the best family and friends and are so picture perfect together they look like they could be a little cake topper! They were a joy to photograph and I loved getting to know their friends and family. Part of Robert’s family is French so I enjoyed reliving a bit of my Paris/Belgium days by chatting with a few of them and practicing my rusty French.
We started the day with getting ready photos at the Capitol Hilton before heading across town to St. Dominic’s. Robert’s mom did a lot of the planning for the wedding and executed everything flawlessly. One of my favorite touches at the ceremony was a Gospel-like choir that sang a few of my favorite worship songs – including Happy Day which Robert and Amanda did their recessional to. I love it when classic D.C. gets fused with soul and something a little bit unique!
After the ceremony we headed to the Capitol building for a few very brief photos before taking the trolly to the American Pharmacist’s Association and doing some photos at the park across the street and the Lincoln Memorial.
We made it back in time for part of cocktail hour and the reception space just took my breathe away. The APhA might have the best views in the entire city with the reception terrace overlooking the Lincoln Memorial with views of the river, Washington Monument and even Capitol building in the distance.
One of my favorite parts of the reception was Amanda and Robert’s first dance which they did beneath a beautiful sunset with vocals and guitar by Robert’s cousin (who did an incredible job). A live band took it away for the rest of the night for an awesome evening of dancing.
Amanda and Robert – thank you so much for choosing me to capture your day! I loved every single minute of it and am so grateful I got to work with you both. I hope you have a blast in Portland!
