Jason and Molly met while volunteering as paramedics, a story that I think is just a small indication of how kind, caring and serving these two people are.
I first met Molly and Jason almost a year ago over drinks at M&S Grill in Reston Town Center. We instantly clicked and I was struck by how fun, genuine and NICE they were. Throughout their engagement I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them both a bit better and they haven’t ceased to blow me away with their kindness. I’m constantly amazed at how often they put each other, and others, first. Throughout their wedding day, Molly kept making sure I was doing ok…even though SHE was the one getting married! I guess that’s just the nurturing nurse side of her and I couldn’t feel luckier to have had her as a bride!
The wedding day started with perfect clear blue skies and some getting ready photos at the W Hotel in downtown D.C. under the flawless supervision of their coordinator and planner Heather Thorpe. Molly was a nursing student at Georgetown University so Molly and Jason’s ceremony was held at the Dahlgren Chapel on campus which is probably one of my favorite church settings to photograph. Father Bill, who has known Molly’s family for decades and baptized her AND her four siblings performed the ceremony. He gave a wonderful sermon on Micah 6:8 and encouraged Molly and Jason to “act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly”, a reminder for me as I sat listening and photographing that loving each other, using God’s perfect and selfless love as our source, is the foundation for a flourishing marriage.
After the ceremony, we took the awesome bridal party around the Georgetown campus for portraits and got to sneak in some bride and groom photo time as well! Then it was off to cocktail hour on the rooftop of the Old Ebbitt grill with some of the best views of the city that I’ve ever experienced. The rest of the night was spent partying away and dining on delicious food and cake (done by Fluffy Thoughts) in the Old Ebbitt Atrium.
Molly and Jason – thank you SO much for choosing me to be a part of your special day. It was as beautiful and perfect from start to finish as you two are kind! I can’t wait to share the rest of the photos with you and follow your adventures in married life.
