What a wedding this was! The day started off with a TORRENTIAL downpour that had everyone convinced not a single part of the wedding would be taking place outside at the beautiful Belle Mer in Newport, RI. Magically and miraculously the rain AND clouds completely cleared a few hours before we were scheduled to head to the beach for photos. No one could believe it! Not only did the weather clear but the day turned into one of the sunniest and most beautiful of the summer so far.
We started the day getting ready at Belle Mer which has was it quite possibly the dreamiest bridal suite I’ve ever photographed in – white and filled with huge windows it’s a photographer’s dream!
By the time we left for the Brenton State Park the sun was ablaze without hardly a cloud in the sky. I love that I get to work with such easy going and adventurous couples. As soon as we pulled up to the beach Gary and Vicki were the first of the entire bridal party to kick off their shoes and scramble over the wet mossy rocks to get some epic shots. There was another bride and groom and bridal party there at the same time who didn’t dare venture out more than a few feet!
I couldn’t help but smile our entire portrait time. Ben and I could married on a misty day in Ocean City, NJ and were also willing to sacrifice perfect hair and clean feet for some great rock photos at the beach! Vicki and Gary – I hope these were worth it 🙂
After portrait time we returned to Belle Mer for a ceremony overlooking the beautiful harbor and bridge. One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was when Gary came to greet Vicki as she was being walked down the aisle by her dad. He went to give her a kiss and the officiant hilariously barked out “What do you think you’re doing?!” Vicki and Gary’s reaction was priceless and so cute!
After the ceremony the reception kicked off in a salon room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. We were able to sneak out to take a few more photos along the water right at sunset. It was pretty magical.
Vicki and Gary – I am so thrilled for you! You two are so much fun and have such light-hearted and fun spirits – two essential ingredients for a great marriage. I’m excited to see where the next few years take you and hope you enjoy this little sneak peek!
